Women’s Health Innovation: 6 Inspiring FemTech Startups

6 Inspiring FemTech Startups

FemTech startups have emerged as a powerful movement, bringing focus to women’s unique health needs. Many of these companies are founded and led by women themselves. Here are six startups that are redefining women’s health with innovative solutions – created by women, for women.

6 FemTech Startups To Watch

  1. Coroflo

Coroflo has developed Coro – a smart nipple shield with a built-in sensor that measures the amount of milk a baby consumes during feeding. The device is small, non-invasive, and connects seamlessly to a smartphone app, which displays real-time data on milk volume. Parents can switch between breasts in the app and track feeding patterns separately for each side. Beyond real-time monitoring, Coro’s app stores data on feeding duration, timing, and volume over days, weeks, or even years. It also allows parents to compare their baby’s intake with that of children of a similar age, providing valuable context for growth and development.

The idea behind Coro was born from a deeply personal experience. Founder Helen Barry faced challenges when her son was born very small. To ensure he was getting enough nutrition, she had to weigh him before and after every feed, a method that proved both stressful and imprecise. Realizing that no accurate solution existed, Helen set out to create Coro, a device designed to give parents peace of mind and confidence in their baby’s feeding journey.

  2. Muun Health

Muun Health has created a wearable biosensor designed to track female hormone levels and make ovulation monitoring more accurate and accessible. Instead of relying on frequent clinic visits or imprecise at-home methods, women can wear Muun’s discreet patch for two weeks. During this time, the device continuously measures hormone levels and delivers the insights to a dedicated app. By addressing one of the most common challenges in fertility care, the difficulty of precisely identifying the fertile window, Muun Health provides women with clarity and confidence. With every cycle, the device learns and adapts, offering increasingly personalized insights tailored to the individual. The patch is user-friendly, painless, and reliable, making it easy to integrate into daily life.

Behind this innovation stands founder Dr Kerli Luks, a physician with many years of clinical experience. Her mission was to extend the support she offered in one-on-one consultations to a broader scale, empowering women everywhere to better understand their bodies and reproductive health.

  4. Oasis Diagnostics

Oasis Diagnostics has developed ONIRY, a breakthrough solution for the rapid diagnosis of anal sphincter damage immediately after natural childbirth. Using electrical impedance spectroscopy, ONIRY can detect muscle injuries in less than a minute, with results displayed in real time. Traditionally, sphincter assessment after childbirth has relied on manual examinations, which are often uncomfortable and prone to inaccuracy. In contrast, the ONIRY probe has a small diameter, ensuring both high precision and greater comfort for patients. Clinical studies show its sensitivity and specificity reach around 90%, offering a significant improvement over existing practices.

The need for such innovation is urgent: approximately 26% of women experience sphincter damage during natural childbirth, yet up to 80% of cases go undiagnosed. Left untreated, these injuries can lead to long-term complications such as fecal incontinence. Founder Dr Katarzyna Borycka, a proctologist, was inspired by her clinical experience, having encountered many women whose injuries were missed at the time of birth. With ONIRY, she aims to change the standard of care, ensuring faster, more accurate diagnoses and better long-term outcomes for women.

  5. Impli Health

Impli Health is transforming hormone testing with an implantable device that provides real-time, continuous hormone data. Unlike traditional methods that rely on frequent blood draws, this solution gives doctors and patients a clear, uninterrupted picture of hormonal fluctuations. The technology is particularly valuable for women undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF), where hormone levels must be closely monitored to optimize treatment. By reducing the need for repeated clinic visits and blood sampling, Impli’s device not only makes the process more comfortable but also enables physicians to make faster, more precise treatment decisions.

Beyond fertility care, continuous hormone monitoring holds promise for diagnosing polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) more quickly and supporting more effective management of menopause. With its implantable design, Impli Health is pioneering a new standard in women’s reproductive healthcare, one that combines precision, convenience, and long-term clinical value.

  6. Uvisa Health

Uvisa Health has developed an innovative at-home device designed to treat common vaginal infections such as bacterial vaginosis and candidiasis. The device uses targeted light therapy to naturally restore the vaginal microbiome. By emitting light that disrupts the cell membranes of harmful microorganisms, without damaging vaginal tissue, Uvisa offers a safe and effective alternative to traditional drug-based treatments. Currently, most women rely on pharmacological agents to treat these infections, but medications can carry side effects and may not always restore balance to the microbiome. Uvisa’s reusable, insertable device provides a non-invasive and drug-free solution.

The idea behind Uvisa was inspired by co-founder Ella Harris. As a student, she researched the effects of UV light on biofilms. Later, during her maternity leave, she personally experienced a vaginal infection. This personal journey led to the creation of a device that empowers women to take charge of their intimate health safely, naturally, and conveniently at home.

  8. Peri

Peri has developed a discreet wearable device that helps women better understand and navigate the perimenopausal transition. Worn comfortably on the skin, Peri continuously monitors activity, lifestyle factors, and symptoms, then translates this data into personalized, actionable insights. Designed with convenience in mind, the device adheres securely for 7-10 days of uninterrupted wear. It also comes with easily replaceable batteries, ensuring seamless, long-term use without disrupting monitoring.

By combining symptom tracking with lifestyle and activity data, Peri provides women with a clearer picture of their perimenopausal journey. This not only helps users recognize patterns and triggers but also empowers them to make informed decisions to improve their well-being during this important life stage.

Summary

Each of these innovations shines a light on a different aspect of women’s health and all of them address needs that, for too long, have been overlooked. The founders behind these startups understood challenges that many women face every day and turned them into meaningful solutions that make life easier, healthier, and more empowering.
